You own the lifecycle from discovery with stakeholders to scaled delivery, adoption, and continuous improvement while developing people and strengthening our standards for quality, safety, and impact.
What you will do:
- Build and maintain relationships with business stakeholders and frame business issues, value hypotheses and success metrics; translate initial requirements into scalable MLOps solutions with clear roadmaps.
- Drive MLOps projects from PoC to production by planning resources and timelines, defining scalable ML/AI architectures, and validating data and platform readiness with technical and business experts.
- Provide project oversight by leading cross‑functional expert teams (e.g., Data Science, AI Engineering, Information Security) and by working closely with Consulting on large‑scale projects. Remove roadblocks, set success criteria, ensure adoption of standardized pipelines, monitor solution health (performance, reliability, cost efficiency), and guide teams toward operational excellence.
- Promote Responsible AI and platform governance by ensuring compliance with security, privacy, and risk standards. Oversee documentation of evaluations, guardrails (e.g. LLM safety patterns), CI/CD workflows, MLOps policies, and architecture decision records.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of internal MLOps frameworks and accelerators by structuring requirements, aligning stakeholders, and steering expert teams to create reusable delivery models, templates, and best practices.
- Evolve the MLOps service offering and operating model by shaping strategic roadmaps, enhancing platform capabilities, and aligning with stakeholders across business, data, and technology to drive enterprise‑wide ML adoption.
- Lead and develop a team of 5 - 7 MLOps engineers. Foster a strong team identity, guide career growth, provide coaching and continuous feedback, and perform fair and structured performance assessments.
- Support the future growth of the organization by interviewing new candidates or by representing DHL Data & AI at events and conferences.
What you bring:
- 10+ years of experience in IT delivery or technology project/program management, including 5+ years leading complex, cross‑functional teams (data science, engineering, platform, business).
- Proven experience delivering AI/ML‑enabled solutions or data platforms, acting as the bridge between business, data science, and engineering rather than as a hands‑on developer.
- Strong ability to structure and steer MLOps initiatives: defining scope, milestones, governance, quality gates, and success metrics from PoC to scaled production.
- You communicate complex technical concepts clearly and pragmatically, enabling alignment between technical experts and non‑technical stakeholders, including senior management and clients.
- Strong stakeholder management skills: you build trust, manage expectations, resolve ambiguity, and consistently turn early ideas into structured, successful delivery programs.
- A high level of results-orientation and personal drive; you take ownership naturally and are intrinsically motivated to shape the direction and culture of a fast-growing organization.
- People‑centric leader and coach, focused on team development, motivation, and psychological safety, while maintaining a clear, outcome‑oriented delivery mindset.
- Experience in making informed decisions on tooling, platforms, and operating models (cloud, CI/CD, data/platform choices) in close collaboration with architects and engineers.
- Comfortable working in enterprise environments, with an understanding of risk management, data protection, model governance, and AI responsibility.
- Solid conceptual understanding of modern AI trends (incl. LLMs and GenAI) and their operational implications, enabling responsible adoption without needing hands‑on implementation expertise.
